The Hermanus Botanical Society raises funds for use in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve 
 and for conservation in the area. One of the biggest fundraising events is the 
 annual Hermanus Wildflower Festival, organized by the society and held usually 
 mid- to end September.

The society administers and/or supports various projects such as alien vegetation 
control schemes and the Cliff Path Management Group. 

A large portion of the society's income is earmarked for the maintenance and management of the Fernkloof gardens. 
This community project is run by a small team of volunteers from the society. It is enjoyed by overseas and local visitors, particularly for its bird, flower and animal life.
